About the Zine

Psychedelic Violence is a narrative fanzine that chronicles the history of Japanese rock genre Visual Kei from 1982-2003 through the lens of its author in a documentary and semi-autobiographical style. Each volume includes a mixtape highlighting the important tracks and bands discussed within, as well as tons of optional bonus content for those that want to take a deeper dive. I aim to release new volumes somewhere between quarterly and semi-annually as I finish them. I aim to make this zine enjoyable to anyone interested in goth, rock, punk & new wave, general music history, underground subcultures, Japanese culture, fashion, or just leftfield cultural stuff in general. Thanks for checking it out!
